SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Florida Tech baseball took a quick one-game road trip up to Saint Augustine, Florida for a matchup with No. 13 Flagler on Tuesday. The game did not go in FIT's favor as the Panthers surrendered the contest, 12-5.
Florida Tech's bullpen saw a lot of action as the team had seven different pitchers take the mound.
Sam Crocker was given the start but his night did not last long as he was replaced after two-thirds of an inning.
Colin Cristello saw the most action for the Crimson and Gray, going three and a third innings and giving up three runs, one earned, on five hits.
Jordan Murray was called on in the bottom of the eighth and he did not disappoint. Murray continued with his dominant season as he did not give up a single hit or run in his one frame of the night.
Zac Orchard led the Panthers at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run.
Jacob Buser also had a strong outing as he also went 3-for-4 with a run.
Ryan Sinzenich managed to cross the plate the other three times for the team.
Florida Tech got off to a quick start as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to a
Kevin Capella single that scored Sinzenich.Â
However, it did not last long as the Saint's managed two big innings back-to-back that put them up 7-1 heading into the third.Â
FIT struck again in the top half of the third when a grounder by Orchard gave Sinzenich enough time to cross the plate safely.Â
A big top of the fifth by Flagler extended their lead to 10-2.
Florida Tech cut the deficit to five in the top of the seventh. An Orchard double sent Sinzenich home for the third time of the night. In the next at-bat, Capella hit a slow grounder that allowed Buser to trot across the plate.
Raul Quintero then smacked a single up the middle that sent home Orchard.
The bottom half of the seventh saw Flagler respond with the final two runs of the night to cap off the scoring at 12-5.
The Panthers will look to get back into the winner's column this Friday, Mar. 30, as they invite Georgia College to Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field for an Easter Weekend showdown. First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is set for 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action at FloridaTechSports.com/live.
