MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Florida Tech hit the pitch for the second time in three days as they looked to build on the success the team has experienced to kick off their 2018 campaign. The Panthers (3-0-0) found the magic once again as they overpowered Union University (0-1-1) to the tune of 4-2.
The game started off fast and furious as the teams traded shots to start the match. Florida Tech had the upper hand peppering the goal early and often but Union was the first to find the back of the net in the 31st minute.
The Crimson and Gray would answer quickly tying the game in the 33rd minute when
Paris Junior Roserie forced a turnover and beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation.
Seven minutes later, the Panthers went up 2-1 when
Per Henrik Nag blasted a header into the goal off of a chip from
Craig McCall.
The second half started off in an eerily similar fashion to the first with Florida Tech in control of the match but the Bulldogs struck first. This brought the match back even at 2-2.
However, the Panthers did not let this setback kill their drive as they kept pushing the pace and more importantly the ball into the attacking third.
This lead to Florida Tech putting up two more goals, one by
Solomon Wheatley off a give and go from Nag. Nag then totaled his third point of the night when in the 80th minute, he intercepted a ball off a bad clearance and scored from 15 yards out.
The Panthers will look to continue its winning ways when they hit the pitch of Rick Stottler Field on Sept. 11, to take on Flagler College.
