Melbourne, Fla. - On Friday night, Florida Tech volleyball went up against defending National Champions the University of Tampa.
The Panthers fought hard in four set, but came up short as the Spartans take the match in four set of play (25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-12).
Tech in four sets recorded 48 kills on 164 attempts for a .159 team hitting percentage.
Sheila Villagrasa recorded a double-double in the match collecting 34 assists and 19 digs in four sets. The senior also tallied six kills on 13 attempts for an attacking rate of .385.
Jocelyn Garcia and
Audrey Keenan collected eight kills apiece for the Panthers during the match. Keenan also had a good defensive game as she registered three blocks.
Tania Kottke had 10 kills and a pair of blocks at the conclusion of the match.
Elena Ciulli added nine kills to her credit with a pair of blocks.
Kyra Atkinson continues to be a strong force defensively as she collected 19 digs with five assists and a kill during the match.
