BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - Florida Tech volleyball faced the University of West Alabama for the first match at the Regional Crossover. The Panthers fought hard in four sets of play, but unfortunately they fell to the Tigers.
The Florida Tech collected 49 kills, 47 assists, four service aces, six blocks, and 87 digs. Sheila Villagrasa collected 36 assists and 14 digs to complete her 11th double-double of the season.
Elena Ciulli had 13 kills on 36 attempts for a .222 attacking rate. Jocelyn Garcia was the most efficient attacker for the Panthers as she collected 12 kills for a .345 hitting percentage.
Set One
Florida Tech took an early lead taking set one 25-23. The Panthers were able to start set one with a 7-3 point run over the Tigers with three kills by Jocelyn Garcia and two kills by Audrey Kennan. Tech was able to extend their lead by a few Tiger errors that allowed them to take the set.
Set Two
The Tigers took an early 18-10 lead over the Panthers that allowed them to win the set 25-15.
Set Three
The Panthers had back-and-forth battle to start the set and were able to cut the Tigers lead 9-8. West Alabama extended its lead 17-11 with three consecutive kills. Later in the set, the Panthers cut the Tigers lead 23-22 with a 4-0 point run. Unfortunately, the Panthers drop the set 25-22 with a kill and an attacking error by Florida Tech.
Set Four
The Tigers once again dominated early in the set, but the Panthers came back to tie the set at 23 points apiece. However, the Tigers took the set with a pair of kills to end the set 25-23.

The Panthers will face Lee University tomorrow at 9 a.m. for day two of the Regional Crossover.
