Mobil, Ala. – Florida Tech's (3-5) offense went on a surge during the final contest of its weekend series against Spring Hill (3-8) on Sunday, and the Panthers routed SHC 13-2 to earn the series win.Â
Preston Schumacher had the ball for the Panthers to start the game. He pitch 3.1 innings allowing only one run. The freshman also recorded four strike outs on the day and gave up five hits.
Justin Lorenz continues to throw the ball well as he pitch 3.1 innings without allowing a run.
Rhett Willis made his first appearance of the season throwing 1.1 innings allowing one hit and one run.
The Panther bats were alive today as they tallied 16 total hits on the win.
Offensively, The Panthers had a quick start to the ball game scoring seven runs in the first two innings. One of those runs came in the first inning when
Jacob Buser blasted on over the right field fence. Â Buser went 3-for-5 on the day with an RBI and score two runs.
Pedro Rivera had a great day offensively going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs score and three RBI's.
James Gronberg had a great weekend concluding the last game with two hits on four plate appearance and three RBI's.
Raul Quintero continues to be a threat for the Panthers as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI's, a run score and a stolen base.
The Panthers look to take this same offensive approach for the conference opener against the University of Tampa.
The Crimson and Gray will be back to open conference play against the University of Tampa. The game is schedule for Friday, February 22 at 6 p.m.
