Panthers Drop Series Against the Bobcats

Milledgeville, Ga. - On March 30, the Panthers face the Bobcats in a doubleheader game. Florida Tech (16-14, SSC 5-7) was not able to take the series against Georgia College. 

In the first game, the Panthers battled throughout the whole game but unfortunately were not able to earned the victory. Florida Tech recorded nine runs, 11 hits, eight RBI's and seven walks. 

The Bobcats had a early six run lead over the Panthers in four innings of play. Florida Tech recorded their first run of the game with a home run by Brett Parrish. That is Parrish second home run of the season. 

James Gronberg had a good first game going 3-for-5 with three RBI's a double and a stolen base. Gronberg now leads the Sunshine State Conference in stolen bases with 19. 

The Panthers in the sixth inning were able to cut the Bobcats lead in half scoring three runs. Florida Tech started the six inning with a solo home run by Dylan Owens. Owens recorded one hit on four at bats with two RBI's, a run, a walk and his fourth homerun of the season. 

Pedro Rivera tallied a couple of hits in the game and scored a run for the Panthers. 

Colin Cristello started the game for the Panthers pitching 5.2 innings allowing seven hits and recording four strikeouts on the loss. 

Unfortunately, the Panthers left 10 runners on base and tallied nine errors on the 14-9 loss. 

In the second game, the Panthers had another tough battle with the Bobcats. Florida Tech took the lead in the top of the first, but quickly fell behind has the Bobcats scored five runs in five innings. However, the Panthers were able to take the lead in the sixth with a bases loaded on a walk, a ground ball to shortstop and a wild pitch. 

However, in the last inning, the Bobcats tied the game with a wild pitch by the Panther closer. They quickly loaded the bases and scored the winning run on a sac fly. 

Gronberg continues to swing the bat very well for the Panthers. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and is now hitting .349 on the season. 

Parrish had another good game for the Panthers as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored to increase his batting average to .321. 

Buser and Alec Eldridge each recorded a base hit and a run scored on the loss.  


Florida Tech will be back at home Friday, April 5 for another conference showdown against Lynn University. The game is schedule for a 6 p.m. start at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Filed.
