Panthers Comeback

Melbourne, Fla. - On April 5, the Panthers faced the Fighting Knights for another Sunshine State Conference game. Florida Tech (17-14, SSC 6-7) played a close game against Lynn and were able to earn a 3-2 victory. 

Andrew Marzheuser  was the starting pitcher for the panthers in which he pitched seven innings allowing five hits and two runs. The Ohio native also recorded six strikeouts in the no decision to keep the Panthers in the game. 

Justin Barney was the winning pitcher in today's game. He pitched one inning in which he did not allowed a run.  

Ryan Allain came up in the ninth for another save situation and picked up his seventh save of the season. The hard thrower recorded two strikeouts in one inning of work. With this performance he now ranks second in the SSC for most save.  

Offensively, the Panthers recorded nine hits scoring three runs and two RBI's. Blaise Maris recorded one hit on four at bats with a RBI. Maris singled in the bottom of the third to tie the game at one. Later, Rodnie Bernard singled in the eighth scoring Brett Parrish making it a 2-2 ball game.  

Raul Quintero had a good day at the plate going 3-for-3 with a run scored. Quintero scored in the eighth inning on an error by the Lynn shortstop taking a one run lead over the Fighting Knights.

In the top of the ninth, Lynn trailing by a run got their leadoff batter on base with a single to right field and later advance to second with one out. Later that inning the Lynn shortstop singled to right field but were not able to score the run due to an outstanding throw by Parrish getting the tying run out at the plate to end the game. 

The Panthers will be back tomorrow to wrap up the series against Lynn. First pitched is schedule for 1 p.m.
