St. Augustine, Fla. - On March 6, the Panthers went on the road to face the Saints. Florida Tech (9-7, SSC 4-2) bested the Saint for the first time since the 2016 season (6-4).
On the mound for the Panthers was
Justin Lorenz who pitched 4.1 innings. The freshman was able to keep Florida Tech in the game by only allowing two runs on five hits. The right hander also recorded four strikeouts on the night.
The victory was awarded to
Andrew Giddens who pitched one inning giving up one run on two hits. The transfer also recorded his first win in a Panther uniform.
In the ninth inning,
Greg Berkemeier handed the ball to the hard throwing
Ryan Allain who was able to record his fourth save of the season. The right hander allowed only one hit and two strikeouts to lead the Panthers to victory.
Offensively,
Dylan Owens went 1-for-5 with two RBI's and a run scored.
Blaise Maris delivered his fourth home run of the season in the second inning and leads the Panther in the home run category.
Rodnie Bernard and
James Gronberg did exactly what they are supposed to do reaching base three time each and scoring two runs each. Both hitters went 1-for-2 on the victory against the Saints. Gronberg continues to run well for the Panthers as he recorded his 13 steal of the season.
The Panthers are back at home Friday, March 8 to face Bridgeport on a doubleheader. First pitch is schedule for 1 p.m.
