Panthers Tied Series Against the Mocs

Melbourne, Fla. - On March 13, the Panthers went to battle again with the Mocs on game two of the weekend series. Florida Tech (20-15, SSC 9-8) defeated Florida Southern ( 20-16, SSC 6-11) on a close game (6-4). 

The Panthers competed throughout the game tallying six runs, eight hits and no errors.  

Colin Cristello was the starting pitcher today throwing 5.2 innings allowing six hits and four runs. The right hander did all he could to keep the Panthers in the game recording six strikeouts in the no decision. The winning pitcher in today's game was Jake Lane who pitched two innings without allowing a hit or a run. Lane improves his record to two and three on the season. 

Ryan Allain continues to dominate hitters as he recorded his 8th save of the season. He pitched one inning allowing one hit and two strikeouts on the Panther win. Allain is now tied for first in the save category in the Sunshine State Conference. 

The first two runs for the Panthers were scored due to a throwing error by the Mocs shortstop making it a 2-1 ball game. The Panthers were able to extend their lead in the third with a RBI single by Raul Quintero. Quintero went 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI and two walks. 

Blaise Maris had another good day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a run scored. The freshman, Brett Parrish, continues to swing the bat well as he recorded two hits on four at bats with a run scored and a walk. 

Vincenzo Catanza started for the Panthers in left field and recorded one hit on three at bats with a big RBI in the 6th tying the game for the Panthers. 

Pedro Rivera recorded a big infield hit and heads up base running by Catanza gave the Panthers the lead on a Mocs throwing error. Rivera went 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Panthers tied the series 1-1 against the Mocs and will wrap up the series tomorrow at 12 p.m.
