Saint Leo, Fla. - On March 18, the Panthers headed to Saint Leo to face the Lions for game one of a three game series. Florida Tech was able to defeat Saint Leo 1-0 and increase their winning streak to three games.
Florida Tech battled all game due to dominating pitching by Saint Leo. This is the Panthers smallest margin of victory against the Lions since 2008.
On the mound for the Panthers was
Andrew Marzheuser who pitched 7.2 innings allowing five hits and no run scored. The Panthers ace also recorded four strikeouts on the win. Marzheuser improves his record to 6-2 on the season. The right hander continues to lead in earned run average in the Sunshine State Conference (1.38).
The Panther closer,
Ryan Allain, continues to dominate on the mound picking up his 8th save of the season. He pitched 1.1 innings recording two strikeouts on the Panther victory.
Offensively, the Panthers were held by Lions to four hits, a run, and a RBI. In the top of the 6th,
Rodnie Bernard started out the inning with a double to left field. Later, Bernard advanced to third on a wild pitch and later scored on a ground ball by
James Gronberg.
The Panthers will be back to wrap up the series on Saturday, April 20th. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.
