Panthers Can't Take Down Tars in Extras

WINTER PARK, FLA. - Florida Tech baseball played in game two of the weekended series against Rollins College at Alfond Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers played in their third extra-inning game of the season but were not able to put the Tars away in 10th innings of play (3-2).

The Tars limited the Panthers to two runs, three hits, two RBI's, and left seven runners on base. Tech tallied six walks during the game which is always a positive.

The Panthers received a good outing by Boris Villa who pitched 4.2 innings allowing five hits and giving up two runs to the Tars.  The junior was able to strikeout eight during the game on the no-decision.

Head coach Greg Berkemeier went with Alex Carpenter, Andrew Dunham, and Jake Lane. Carpenter pitched 2.1 innings without allowing a run and recording two strikeouts. Dunham went two scoreless innings allowing just two hits and a recording a strikeout. Lane came in the 10th but was not able to hold the Tars giving up two hits and the only run they needed.

On offense, Raul Quintero continues to be a threat in the Panther lineup as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored, an extra-base hit,  and two walks in the game.

Vincenzo Catanza was the only Panther to record RBI's in the game. The senior hopes to continue today's performance of 1-for-3 with two RBI's and a walk-in tomorrow's rubber game.
