Tech Fall to #4 Tampa

Andrew Marzheuser ranks 8th in career strikeouts for the Panthers

TAMPA, FLA. - Florida Tech baseball headed to Tampa to face #4 Spartans on Friday afternoon at UT Baseball Field. Tech battled through nine innings against Tampa but ultimately fell 1-0.

It was a pitchers duel as both teams combine for 30 strikeouts on Friday night. The Panthers registered 10 strikeouts, eight of them coming from Andrew Marzheuser.

The senior pitched six innings allowing five hits, one run, and eight strikeouts throwing 90 pitches. With today's performance, Marzheuser moves up the Panther leaderboard in career strikeouts. The Ohio native now ranks 8th All-Time in career strikeouts in program history with 250 strikeouts. 

Jake Lane relived Marzheuser and pitched two innings allowing one hit, no runs, no walks, and two strikeouts. The senior would be available for a closing situation in tomorrow's game as he only threw 25 pitches. 

The Panther offense only collected six hits, walked three times, struck out 20 times, and left 10 runners on base. Senior Blaise Maris collected two hits in tonight's game with his fifth double of the season.

Raul Quintero registered one official at-bat as he walked three times in nine innings of play. Rodnie Bernard, Diego Garcia, Alec Eldridge, and Brendan Riley tallied a hit apiece. 

NEXT

The Crimson and Gray will continue the weekended series against #4 Tampa. The Panthers will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. EST.
