MIAMI SHORES, FLA. - Florida Tech baseball head to Miami to face #13 Barry on Friday night. Tech comeback efforts fall short as the Bucs were able to walk it off in the ninth to win 9-8.
Florida Tech's offense was on fire on Friday night as they registered 17 hits, eight runs, eight RBI's, two home runs, and six walks.
Barry was able to take a two-run lead in the first with a couple of hits. Tech was able to strike in the third with an RBI single by Raul Quintero.
The Bucs were able to score in the third and fourth inning extending their lead 4-1. Tech in the sixth, cut the Bucs lead in half scoring two runs. The Panthers scored on a two-RBI home run by Tyler Brown, his first of the season.
In the seventh, Tech tied the game scored on an RBI single by Jakob Newton to score Blaise Maris making it 4-4 ball game. The Bucs took the lead again with an RBI single to left field.
In the eight, the Panthers added one more on a bases-loaded walk to Dylan Owens. Barry then scored three runs on a couple of singles in the bottom half.
Tech tied it up once again in the ninth starting with a Newton home run to right field. Later, the Panthers scored on another two-RBI single by Quintero to right filed making an 8-8 ball game. Unfortunately, in the bottom half, the Bucs were able to strike with a couple of base hits to walk it off and take a 9-8 victory.
Raul Quintero had an amazing game for the Panthers registering three RBI's in the game. The senior went 4-for-6 with three RBI's and two stolen bases. Quintero is leading the team in batting average with .329 and is now 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.
Jakob Newton had his best game of the season recording four hits in five at-bats. The junior collected two runs, two RBI's, and his first home run of the season.
Brett Parrish and Tyler Brown recorded two hits apiece in the ball game. Brown tallied two RBI's in his first home run of the season in the top of the fourth.
Defensively, Andrew Marzheuser was the game one started for the Panthers pitching five innings allowing seven hits, four runs, a walk, and three strikeouts on the no-decision.
Sean Murray registered 1.2 innings allowing three hits, a run, a walk, and three strikeouts on 28 pitches. Andres Rodriguez and Jake Lane combine for three strikeouts on 1.2 innings of work.
