FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Florida Tech baseball headed to No. 19 Nova Southeastern for the first game of a three-game series. A strong offensive performance by the Panthers led them to a 10-7 victory Friday night.
Nova took an early three-run lead over Florida Tech in the first inning of the game. The Panthers responded with two runs in the fifth to make it a 3-2 game.
Florida Tech proceeded to score in each of the last five innings of the ball game. Jakob Newton hit a two RBI triple in the ninth to solidify the Panthers' win making it a 10-6 ball game.
The freshman Sam Schner had a great day at the plate recording four hits on five at-bats with two runs scored and four RBI's.
Newton was a big part of the Panther offense registering four RBI's in the victory.
Diego Garcia captured two hits in four at-bats, a run, and a walk against the Sharks.
Boris Villa recorded his first win of the season while pitching five innings. Villa allowed five hits, three runs, a walk, and six strikeouts over the Sharks.
Florida Tech will finish the three-game series with a doubleheader at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
