No. 6 Men's Soccer Draws with Florida Southern

Daniel Talisuna Owurum tallies the first goal of his career in the 1-1 tie

MELBOURNE – After a week off, the newly crowned No. six team in the nation, Florida Tech men's soccer, welcomed Florida Southern to Rick Stottler Field for the second friendly of the Spring season. Both teams fought hard over the 90-minute contest and this led to a 1-1 draw.

Daniel Talisuna Owurum was the Crimson & Gray's sole goal scorer. This was his first goal in a Panthers uniform.

Tech started the game on the defensive as the Mocs came out fast and this pressure allowed them to get on the board first a little over 10 minutes into the contest.

This concession lit a fire in the Panthers as they took the momentum and began their attack. They had a few attempts that challenged Florida Southern but to no avail. However, this changed with 16:42 left in the first half when Tulisuna Owurum found the back of the net and brought it back even. Florida Tech continued its ways for the final minutes of the period but they did not beat the goal again and at the whistle, the teams left the pitch with the score at 1-1.

The second half was much like the first as each team made a few runs during the course of the 45 minutes. However, unlike the first, neither managed to power one past a keeper and this left the score at 1-1 as time expired.

Tech's next match will take place Friday, March 19, when they head to Winter Park, Florida for their friendly against Rollins. First kick of Tech's third Spring match takes place at 6 pm ET at Barker Family Stadium.
