Panthers Complete Sweep Against Tars

Delaney Lott collected 11 kills in a three-set victory at Rollins

Winter Park, Fla. - The Florida Tech Panthers closed out the match against Rollins with a sweep, defeating the Tars in three sets Tuesday night at the Harold & Ted Alfond Sports Center.

After going on a five-point run, the Panthers never looked back, taking the first set 25-23. The second set was a constant battle throughout, but Florida Tech pulled out the 25-21 victory to go up 2-0 in the match. Tech clinched the victory with another closed match defeating the Tars 25-23 in the third set.

Freshman Delaney Lott had an impressive offensive for the Panthers, posting 11 kills with a .258 hitting percentage. Lott also captured two service aces and eight digs on the night.

Senior Jocelyn Garcia continues to perform, recording six kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Garcia also recorded three blocks on the win.

Erin Arbour led the squad in digs registering 22 in the match. Arbour also collected four assists and a service ace in the 3-0 victory. Audrey Keenan added 11 digs of her own and nine kills on the night, just one short of the double-double.

In the first set, the Panthers took a quick 11-5 lead before a 4-1 run behind a kill and two service aces by Lott. Rollins answer with a 5-1 run later in the set to cut the Panthers' lead to one point (23-22). A Keenan kill and a Tars error would end the first set 25-23.

Florida Tech had a continuous back-and-forth battle throughout the second frame. With a 19-18 lead, the Panthers ended it with a 6-3 point run to take the second set and make it a 2-0 match.

Heading to the third frame, Rollins did not hold back as they gave the Panthers a true battle. The Tars trailed the Panthers by three or more points on multiple occasions, and Rollins fought back to tie the game. A kill by Keenan and Lot ended the Tars night and completed the sweep for Florida Tech.

The Panthers return home to face off against Rollins once again on Saturday, April 17th at 4 p.m. EST.
