Florida Tech Men Draw in a physical match at #20 Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla.- Two of the top 20 teams in the country went head-to-head Wednesday night in an SSC matchup. The Panthers remain unbeaten at 5-0-5 (2-0-4 SSC).

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • Both teams came out with high energy and intensity for the entire 90-minute battle. 
  • In the 13th minute of play, Tech had an opportunity to grab the lead when Ettore Casadei attempted a shot that bounded off the cross bar and the Panthers managed to grab the rebound but were called offsides. 
  • Just three minutes later Rollins nearly scored with a shot right in front of the Panthers goal, but Luis Tovar Romero Sr. came up with a block and was kicked out by Sjur Drechsler
  • Around the 20th minute of the match, Rollins was awarded a free kick and the Tars took advantage. 
  • Nazar Tzaruk scored in the top left goal of the net to give Rollins a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Tars led 1-0 at halftime. 
  • Both teams played great defense in the second half. 
  • Tech attempted four shots in the first ten minutes of the second half, but Rollins goalkeeper Maximillian Obermeier was able to keep Tech off the board. 
  • In the 72nd minute of play, Jack Edwards found the back of the net just under the crossbar to tie things up at one a piece. 
  • For the next 15 minutes both teams tried to find the winning goal but were unable to do so. 
  • The Panthers had the edge in shots 12-8 and shots on goal 6-3. 
  • Eight cautions were given between the two teams, Tech received three of them. 
  • Luis Tovar Romero, Sr. recorded two saves, while Rollin's Obermeier recorded five saves. 
  • Rollins led in corner kicks, 7-6. 
  • It was a physical match between the two teams with 43 fouls. 
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is now 17-29-5 all-time against Rollins.  
  • The Panthers haven't beaten Rollins since Oct. 2018. 
  • This is the first tie between the two teams since Sept. 2012.
  • Edward's goal was his second of the season and his career. 
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will be back at home to face Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kick-off is set for 7pm.
