Panthers Swept by Tritons

MELBOURNE, Fla.- Florida Tech volleyball came up short on Friday night against visiting Eckerd, falling in three sets. The Panthers now stand at 8-8 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The Panthers took an early 3-0 lead, but Eckerd turned the tide to pull ahead 15-9.
  • Teams traded the next three points before the Tritons went on a 6-0 spurt to extend their lead 22-11.
  • Tech score six of the next nine points but it wasn't enough to catch up as Eckerd took set one 25-17.
  • Tritons opened set two on a commanding 11-3 run.
  • Panthers answered back with an 8-3 spurt to cut the deficit 14-11.
  • Five Triton errors pushed the Panthers closer, only trailing by one (17-16).
  • Eckerd scored eight of the final nine points to secure set two.
  • Tied up at five a piece, in set three, Panthers took a 6-2 run with four kills, two Eckerd errors, and an ace to take a four-point lead (11-7).
  • Answering back with a 6-2 run of their own, Eckerd caught up to Tech 13-13 before taking the lead 17-16.
  • Tritons scored five of the next seven points to lead by four (22-18).
  • Both teams scored three points apiece, but it wasn't enough for Tech as Eckerd took set three 25-21 and the match 3-0.
  • Katie Erdmann led the Panthers with nine kills, nine digs, and four blocks.
  • Kenzie Delacher tallied 21 assists along with 14 digs.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers are now 24-34 all-time against Eckerd dating back to 1993.
  • Erdmann's three-block solos are a career-high while the team's five-block solos are a season-high.
