Melbourne, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's swimming team returned to the pool for Day Two of the seventh annual Panther Invite on Saturday at the Panther Aquatic Center with prelims in the morning and finals in the evening.
Following Saturday's competition, Tech sits third out of four teams with 626 points. Florida Southern lead the pack with 820 points, followed by Rollins in second with 775 points and Saint Thomas rounding out the group with 387 points.
Kate Helminiak had the best individual effort of the day, finishing third in the 200 Free A Final with a time of 1:53.65 that was 0.33s shy of second. Nicole Rautemberg was just 0.17s behind Helminiak in fourth with Emma Knick took fifth with a 1:54.23 finish.
Debora Xavier earned third in the 100 Fly B Final thanks to a time of 1:00.45, which was 0.10s ahead of Mo Olhasso in fourth.
In relay action, the quartet of Harper Powell, Sophia Sichtnik, Rautemberg and Shaelyn Rutta finished second in the 200-Medley Relay thanks to a time of 1:46.78. The team of Rautemberg, Kiera Ceely, Helminiak and Knick took second in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 7:46.51 that was almost ten seconds clear of third.
WHATS UP NEXT: The Panther Invite will conclude tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 A.M., followed by the finals beginning at 5 P.M.
