Panthers Start 3-0 in SSC Play to Extend Win-Streak to 10

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Game 1 Final: Florida Tech 3, Barry 1

STATS OF GAME 1:
  • Florida Tech struck first in the bottom of the third with Jakob Newton hitting an RBI single up the middle, scoring Jack Nagy.
  • Brett Parrish reached first on an error by Stella, with Paul Castillo advancing to second and Newton scoring.
  • The final run for the Panthers came from Dylan Owens' single up the middle, scoring Castillo and advancing Parrish to second.
  • Barry scored their only run in the top of the sixth when Menendez doubled to right field, plating Noriega.
  • Mitch Harding earned the win, pitching five and a third innings, allowing three hits, one run, and throwing 77 pitches.
  • Noah Steckley pitched two innings, allowing only one hit, no runs, and threw 25 pitches.
  • Alex Carpenter earned the save, closing out the game in the ninth inning, allowing one hit, no runs, and threw 10 pitches.
     
STATS OF GAME 2:
  • Brett Parrish scored the first run for the Panthers in the bottom of the second off Vazquez's error at third base. 
  • Hayden Kimball and Dylan Owens added onto Florida Tech's lead after Sam Schner reached first off Tabares' error in left field. Schner would then score off a wild pitch.
  • Jakob Newton gained an RBI in the bottom of the fourth when he grounded out to short-stop, plating Alec Eldridge.
  • After a 25-minute review and delay, Kimball scored on a wild pitch, advancing Schner to third. Schner then scored on another wild pitch, increasing the Panther lead to seven.
  • Barry gained their only two runs of the game when Menendez reached first on an error by Paul Castillo, scoring Abreu and Sanchez.
  • In the eighth inning, Luca Wentzel hit an RBI single to left field, plating Schner.
  • The final run from the Panthers came from an error by Vazquez with Dylan Dohanos reaching first, plating Wentzel.
  • Justin Lorenz pitched five innings, allowed four hits, no runs, and threw 79 pitches earning the win.
  • Joey Hecht pitched two innings, allowed no hits, no runs, and threw one strikeout.
  • Zach Rodgers made a short appearance in the top of the eighth, where he allowed two hits, two runs, and no strikeouts
  • Aiden Pryzgoda closed the game for the Panthers, allowing two hits, no runs, two strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Panthers now lead the all-time series with Barry, 71-64.
  • This is the first time the Panthers have had a double-digit winning streak since reeling off 11 in a row between February 20 – March 9, 2016.

UP NEXT:  The Panthers return to action on Wednesday night at 6:00 P.M. for their matchup against Edward Waters at Seminick-Hall Field.
