Panthers Rout Tritons to Extend Winning Streak to Seven

STATS OF GAME:
  • Jakob Newton hit a RBI triple down the right field line in the bottom of the first, scoring Dylan Dohanos, allowing the Panthers to strike first.
  • Brett Parrish hit a RBI single to first base, plating Newton.
  • Alec Eldridge hit a RBI double down the right field line, advancing Dylan Owens to third, and scoring Parrish.
  • Newton hit a double to right center field in the bottom of the second, scoring Jack Nagy.
  • Sam Schner singled to center field in the bottom of the third, advancing Hayden Kimball to second, and plating Paul Castillo, extending the Panthers' lead.
  • Eldridge hit a RBI single to center field, plating Newton.
  • The Tritons got on the board in the top of the ninth when, Danny Gutcher doubled to right center field, scoring Jake Andriole.
  • Tyler Young singled to right field, scoring Gutcher.
  • Boris Villa pitched seven innings for the Panthers, allowing only three hits, no runs, struck out 10 Tritons, and threw 101 pitches.
  • Preston Schumacher pitched the final two innings, allowing two runs, five hits, and struck out three.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • This was the first meeting between Florida Tech and Eckerd since March 2, 2019. The Panthers now lead the all-time series 67-51.
  • Jakob Newton extended his hitting streak to 19 with his RBI triple down the right field line in the bottom of the first.
  • Boris Villa is the first Panther pitcher to record 10 or more strikeouts in consecutive starts since Ty Cohen did it in three straight starts in March 2018.

UP NEXT:  The Panthers return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. for a double-header against Eckerd at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
