Brennan Becomes First All-American In Women’s Program History at Day One of 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming Championships

Brennan earns top five finish and Aizenberg records personal best time on Day One of championships

Greensboro, North Carolina – There are many titles by which Savannah Brennan goes by: six-time school record holder, four-time national championship competitor, Sunshine State Conference Championship medalist, three time All-SSC swimmer, two SSC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and now, First Team All-American.

The graduate student from Oviedo, Florida became the first All-American in women's program history on Wednesday evening at the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Brennan earned the honor by finishing fifth in the 1000 Free final with a time of 10:04.04.

"This evening, Sav was finally able to get a trophy. She worked for this moment for five years and to finally see her achieve that goal on the first night is a great way to start off her last NCAA championships," said Panthers Head Coach David Dent.

On the men's side, junior Daniel Aizenberg posted a career best 20.25 in the 50 Free prelims during the morning session. The time was good for 31st overall.

"That's not one of his main races," said Dent. "So seeing him get a best time in that event is a good sign for his main events coming up."

The Panthers return to the pool on Thursday for Day Two as Brennan will compete in the 400 IM,  Aizenberg will compete in the 100 Fly and Nicole Rautemberg will compete in the 200 Free.

"Tomorrow Daniel, Nikki, and Sav will all be swimming some of their main events, so be sure to tune in at 10 A.M. and watch them compete!" said Dent.
