Tech falls 8-2 on road trip to Saint Leo

STATS OF GAME:
  • The first run of the game came in the top of the fourth when Brett Parrish grounded into a double play, which allowed Paul Castillo to score, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • The Lions answered in the bottom of the first when Nieman hit a RBI single to score Roa.
  • Yazael Nunez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Bobby Sparling, giving the Lions a 2-1 lead.
  • Zach Benson hit a RBI single, allowing Coumoulos and Nieman to score, extending the Lions lead 4-1.
  • Trovinger hit a RBI single, scoring Benson for the final run of the fourth inning.
  • The Panthers final run would come in the top of the seventh when Jack Nagy grounded out to shortstop, scoring Brett Parrish.
  • The Lions then scored three more runs in the bottom of the seventh, keeping the Panthers scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings.
  • Mitch Harding pitched three and two-third innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, and struck out one.
  • Justin Lorenz pitched one-third of an inning, allowing one hit, while facing three batters.
  • Jason Englert pitched one and two-third innings, allowing one hit, while facing eight Lion batters.
  • Danny Vassallo pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and three runs.
  • Aiden Pryzgoda closed the game for the Panthers, allowing two hits, no runs, while facing seven batters.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • This was the first meeting in Saint Leo between Florida Tech and Saint Leo since April 17, 2021. The Lions still lead the all-time series 92-62-1. 
  • Brett Parrish extended his hitting streak to seven with his single in the top of the second.
