Tech Stuns No. 11 Tars to Even the Series

Panthers put up six unanswered runs to upset No. 11 Tars

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Location: Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepherd Field | Winter Park, Fla.

STATS OF GAME:
  • Parker Smith hit a two RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first, scoring Jeslyn Whitehead and Adams Torres, giving the Tars the early lead.
  • The Panthers answered the Tars in the top of the third when Dylan Dohanos hit a RBI double down the left field line, advancing Sam Schner to third, scoring Hayden Kimball in the process.
  • Paul Castillo hit a RBI double to right field, advancing Dohanos to third, plating Sam Schner to tie the game 2-2.
  • Jakob Newton hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Dohanos.
  • Dylan Owens hit a RBI single to right field, advancing Brett Parrish to third, allowing Castillo to score and extend the Panthers lead 4-2.
  • Jack Nagy hit a RBI double down the left field line, plating Parrish from third.
  • Dylan Dohanos singled up the middle in the top of the sixth, allowing Hayden Kimball to score the Panthers' final run of the game.
  • Andres Rodriguez pitched seven and one-third innings, allowing eight hits, two runs, struck out three Tars, while throwing 99 pitches.
  • Alex Carpenter closed the game for the Panthers, allowing only one hit, no runs, and struck out two Tars.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Tars now lead the all-time series 80-72-1.
  • Dylan Dohanos extended his hitting streak to seven double down the left field line in the top of the third.

UP NEXT:  The Panthers return to action Sunday at Noon for Game Two of the Sunshine State Conference series against Rollins College at Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepherd Field in Winter Park, FL.
