MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech Director of Performance
Carl Putman is excited to announce the hire of
Ian Mannix as the Panther's new Assistant Director of Sport Performance.
"We are thrilled to have Ian join our Performance Team here at Florida Tech," said Putman. "Ian brings a wealth of experience working in performance with scholar-athletes, he will be a tremendous addition to our performance team and as a resource for our scholar-athletes.
"His background working with sport science and technology aligns with our vision for our performance department; I look forward to welcoming Ian to our Performance Team and continuing to build the best Sport Performance department possible for our scholar-athletes here at Florida Tech!"
Mannix comes to Florida Tech after serving as the Strength and Conditioning/Sport Science Intern at the University of California Los Angeles from September 2021 to April 2022.

During his time at UCLA, Mannix worked with the men's and women's basketball programs, monitored athletes through sports science technology, and managed the injured athletes' training protocol.
Prior to UCLA, Mannix worked as the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Ross School Tennis Academy at Parabolic Performance and Rehab in East Hampton, N.Y. He developed strength and conditioning programs, assessed individual progress, and provided private training sessions.
Additionally, Mannix was an Atheltic Performance Intern at the University of Texas in the Spring of 2019 and a Strength and Conditioning/Sport Science Intern for UT Football in the Spring of 2020. During these internships, Mannix had the opportunity to work with the 2019 NCAA Division I National Champion men's tennis team. He independently designed a needs analysis and annual training program for the men's tennis team and implemented a monthly athletic performance test.
Mannix also served as a Sports Performance Intern at the University of Pennsylvania in the Spring of 2017 where he created strength and conditioning programs for five men's and women's athletic programs.
A native of New York, Mannix earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Temple University in May 2017. He then received his Master of Education in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2022.
Mannix is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, and American Red Cross certified in First Aid CPR/AED.
