Embry-Riddle Sweeps Panthers in SSC Opener

MELBOURNE, Fla.- Florida Tech Volleyball hosted Embry-Riddle for their home and SSC opener. The Eagles downed the Panthers in three sets. 
 
GAME ONE:
Final: Florida Tech 0, Embry-Riddle 3
Records: Florida Tech (5-4, 0-1 SSC), Embry-Riddle (7-2, 1-0 SSC)
Location: Clemente Center | Melbourne, Fla.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The two teams traded points back and forth for the first few rallies until Florida Tech took a 7-4 lead.
  • Embry-Riddle tied it up at 17-17 and didn't look back as they scored the next eight points to take set 1.
  • ERAU took the lead in set two right out of the gate scoring four out of the first five points.
  • Tech tied it up, 13-13, thanks to a kill by Victoria Bowrosen, and then took the lead in the next rally when ERAU recorded an error.
  • The teams traded points until three back-to-back errors by the Panthers put the Eagles ahead, 19-17
  • A 6-4 run by the Eagles closed out set two.
  • ERAU raced out to a 5-1 lead in set three until Tech closed in on them scoring the next four points.
  • It was back and forth once again as the set was tied nine times. ERAU scored the final two points of the set to sweep the Panthers.
  • Kenzie Delacher dished out 23 assists and 11 digs.
  • Six different Panthers finished with at least three kills on the day led by eight from Katie Erdmann.
  • The Eagles had 43 kills as a team compared to 35 from Tech.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers are now 15-15 all-time against the Eagles.
  • Tech's last win against ERAU was October 25, 2016.
  • Tech has not won a conference opener since September 15, 2017, against Rollins.
UP NEXT: The Panthers are back in action Saturday, Sept. 10 when they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to take on Rollins. First set begins at 4 p.m.
