Saint Leo, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's swimming team were back in action on Saturday with a Sunshine State Conference meet against Saint Leo at the Marion Bowman Aquatic Center. The Lions came away with the victory, 113-88.
Alex Knodel earned second place in the 1000 Free thanks to a time of 11:08.49. Nicole Rautemberg took second in the 200 Free with a 1:58.46 finish. Harper Powell finished second in the 50 Free with a 25.68 time that was less than half a second from the top spot. Reegan Tiltmann nabbed second in the 200 IM through a 2:23.12 time. Debora Xavier's 1:02.48 was good for second place in the 100 Fly. Brynn Romberger's time of 56.84 earned her a second-place finish in the 100 Free. Emma Knick took second in the 500 Free through a 5:31.35 time. Shaelyn Rutta took home second in the 100 Breast thanks to a time of 1:10.74.
Kiera Ceely finished third in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:20.66. Kate Helminiak earned third place in the 200 Free through a 2:04.71 finish. Knick's 26.18 finish earned her third place in the 50 Free. Sophia Sichtnik took third in the 200 IM (2:23.48) and 100 Breast (1:11.89). Christina Ramirez grabbed third in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:02.84. Emily Vossler's 58.80 in the 100 Free was good for third place, her best finish of the season so far. Rylee Nepple took third in the 100 Back thanks to a time of 1:06.09. Leah Fonnotto continued her strong debut season by taking third in the 500 Free with a time of 5:44.18.
In relay action, the team of Kat Reburn, Rutta, Xavier and Powell took second in the 200 Medley with a time of 1:54.47 while the group of Nepple, Sichtnik, Tiltmann and Helminiak finished third with a 1:56.10 time. In the 200 Free relay, the squad of Rutta, Xavier, Powell and Rautemberg earned second with a time of 1:41.41
The Panthers will be back in action next Friday January 27th at 12 noon at the Panther Aquatic Center for Senior Day tri-meet against Florida Southern and Miami.
