Casadei’s Early Goal Pushes Panthers Past Bucs’

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers put the Panther defense to work on Wednesday night, but Tech battled to hold off Barry, handing them their first conference loss and earning the 1-0 road victory.

STATS OF THE MATCH: 
  • It was a defensive match for the Panthers as Barry got off to a quick start, getting the first shot off in the second minute of the game.
  • Two back-to-back shots by Barry were blasted over the net, keeping them off the board.
  • Tech capitalized on an opportunity in the 17th minute, as Fabio Amaral brought the ball down the left side, finding the feet of Ettore Cadasei to give the Panthers the lead.
  • In the 39th minute, Tech caught a break as a Barry free kick sailed in but hit the post avoiding the equalizer.
  •  In the final minute of the half, a long ground shot from the left side was sent straight to the Florida Tech keeper, Iker Bastida.
  • The Bucs carried the momentum for the majority of the second half, putting the Panther defense to work once again.
  • In the 59th minute, Barry crossed it into the box and found the head of another Buc', but Bastida was able to get a hand on it to force it out.
  • Tech saw their final opportunity in the 71st minute when Fallipo Fazzi was wide open at the top of the box. Barry's keeper made the save to keep them in the game.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is now 19-22-4 all-time against Barry, and 10-14-2 in Miami Shores.
  • Tech has won seven of the past 10 meetings with Barry dating back to October 2013.
  • The win marks back-to-back wins against the Bucs' for the first time since Oct. 108 and Sept. 2019.
  • Ettore Casadei's goal was the ninth of his career and fourth of the season.
  • Bastida's six saves are a career-high.
