Bullard, Helminiak Shine For Panthers In Loss At Lynn

Boca Raton, Fla. – After nearly two weeks away from competition, the Florida Tech women's swimming team returned to competition on Friday afternoon with a Sunshine State Conference meet against Lynn at the McCusker Pool Complex.
 
The Fighting Knights ended the dual meet victorious over the Panthers, 174-87.
 
On the day, the Crimson and Gray earned two individual victories, six second place finishes and five third place finishes.
 
Freshman Samantha Bullard earned her first individual victory as a Panther by taking the 200 Fly with a time of 2:14.94 that was almost a full second ahead of the next closest swimmer. She would later go on to take third in the 100 Fly with a 1:00.43 finish.
 
Katherine Helminiak earned her first individual victory of the season, winning the 500 Free with a 5:15.88 that was almost 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. The junior would also go on to grab third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:59.99.
 
Elizabeth Brewer earned second in the 1000 Free (11:20.98), while Kiera Ceely (11:25.96) took third.
 
Torie Whitbeck nabbed second in the 200 Back (2:14.20) and third in the 100 Back (1:02.49).
 
Rae Ann Dressel's time of 1:06.88 was good for second in the 100 Breast and just .68s from top spot.
 
Debora Xavier's finish of 25.04 earned her second in the 50 Free and was .52s off of first.
 
Christina Ramirez took home second in the 100 Fly with a 59.67 time.
 
Tech grabbed second and third in the 400 IM thanks to Maja Malarz (4:48.26) and Ceely (4:54.70).
 
In relay action, the team of Whitbeck, Dressel, Ramirez and Xavier finished second in the 200 Medley with a time of 1:49.83.
Florida Tech would take second in the 200 Free through the group of Xavier, Dressel, Ramirez and  Helminiak whose time of 1:40.58 was .18s ahead of the quartet of Harper Powell, Casey Holder, Brieleigh Wescott and Malarz in third.
 
Up Next:
The Panthers will be back in the water on Wednesday November 8th at 11:00 A.M. for a tri-meet against Indian River State College and Keiser in Fort Pierce.
