Men’s Soccer Earns First Shutout of Season over Embry-Riddle

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Florida Tech men's soccer team defeated Embry-Riddle, 2-0 to earn their first shutout win of the season on Wednesday night. The Panthers improved to 6-13 on the season and 2-1-1 in conference play.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • The Panthers controlled the game from the opening kick.  
  • Tech outshot the Eagles 13-0 in the first half.
  • At the half, the score remained 0-0.
  • Just three minutes into the half, a foul by the Eagles gave Tech a free kick.
  • Joeran Osland took the free kick, and his shot soared towards the net as the Eagles keeper got a hand on the ball, but Osland's shot bounced into the back of the net to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • As the rain started to come down, both teams battled back and forth for possession.
  • In the 61st minute, Fabio Amaral took a shot that the Eagles keeper saved, but the rebound landed right in front of Osland who put it right back into the net, giving Tech a 2-0 lead.

  • Joeran Osland scored his second and third goal of the season, the fifth and sixth goals of his career.
  • Iker Bastida recorded his first shutout of the season, the first of his Panther career.
