LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tech men's swimming team traveled to Lakeland, Fla. this morning to take on Florida Southern in an SSC dual meet. The Mocs came out on top in the meet 159-103.
The men's first top-three finish of the day came in the first event in the 400-yard medley relay when the team of
Jay Jay Fonnotto,
Connor Orth,
Akos Hajagos, and
Luke Altmann finished second in the relay with a time of 3:21.04.
In individual competition, 11 Panthers placed in the top three in 10 events, including three first-place finishes.
Akos Hajagos earned two first-place finishes after he led the field in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.98) and the 200-yard IM (1:52.56).
Connor Orth earned the Panthers a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.70. Orth also finished in second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.65.
Luke Altmann placed second in two events. Altmann finished with a time of 1:40.98 in the 200-yard freestyle and a time of 45.38 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Jay Jay Fonnotto also placed second in two events. He finished the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.31 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.67.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech's next meet is the NSU Shark Invite hosted by Nova Southeastern. The two-day event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13, and Saturday, Oct. 14 at the NSU Aquatic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
