LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tech women's swimming team traveled to Lakeland, Fla. this morning to take on Florida Southern in an SSC dual meet. The Mocs came out on top in the meet 178-84.

The women earned a top-three finish in the first event of the day when the team of Torie, Whitbeck,
Rae Ann Dressel,
Christina Ramirez, and
Maja Malarz finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:03.60

In individual competition, 11 Panthers earned top-three finishes in nine events, including three first-place finishers.

Rae Ann Dressel came in first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.60.

Debora Xavier earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.00.

Christina Ramirez finished in first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.43.

Kate Helminack earned a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.64. She also placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.66.

Torie Whitbeck placed second in two events. She finished the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.67 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:10.00. She also finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.23.

UP NEXT: Florida Tech's next meet is the NSU Shark Invite hosted by Nova Southeastern. The two-day event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13, and Saturday, Oct. 14 at the NSU Aquatic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
