Fort Pierce, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's swimming team were back in competition on Wednesday afternoon with a tri-meet against Indian River State, the current #1 ranked team in the NJCAA and reigning national champions and Keiser, the current #1 ranked team in the NAIA and reigning national champions, at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.
The Panthers ultimately fell to the Seahawks, 174-87 and to the Pioneers, 198-63.
Maja Malarz earned second place in the 200 Free with a 1:59.55 finish.
Rae Ann Dressel took second in the 50 Breast with a time of 30.23.
Torie Whitbeck nabbed third in the 100 Back with a 1:01.50 time that was .19s ahead of the next competitor.
Katherine Helminiak's time of 5:14.42 was good for third place in the 500 Free.
In relay action, the team of
Debora Xavier, Dressel,
Harper Powell and
Brieleigh Wescott finished third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:40:10, which got them on to the podium by .12s.
The top Crimson and Gray time in the 800 Medley belonged to the quartet of Whitbeck,
Casey Holder, Sam Bullard and Helminiak, who took fifth place with a time of 9:02.16.
