Tech Scores Season-High 20 Runs in Win Over D'Youville

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Looking to win its seventh consecutive game, Tech hosted D'Youville for the second time this week. As it did on Tuesday against the Saints, the Panthers cruised to an easy victory.  

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF GAME: 

  • In the first inning, D'Youville took the lead on a RBI double to right-center field by Ethan Hammond.  
  • The Panthers responded in their first at-bat as Cole Patrick tied the game with a RBI groundout that scored Luca Wentzel.  
  • Jason Blackstone was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and then the next batter, Alec Eldridge, cleared the bases with a 3-RBI double to give the Panthers a 5-1 advantage in the second inning.  
  • In the third inning, Tech got its sixth run on a RBI single to right field by Gabe Garrett that scored Hayden Kimball
  • A wild pitch and an infield error with a RBI single mixed in-between from Austin Sewell gave the Panthers a 9-1 lead in the sixth inning.  
  • The Saints added two runs in the seventh inning on back-to-back RBI groundouts.  
  • Tech responded with eight runs in the seventh inning. Wentzel, Sewell, Brett Kelly, Kimball, Garrett, and Joseph Phan all had RBIs in the big inning.  
  • Kimball added another run with a RBI single in the eighth inning that scored Austin Sewell. Tech pushed another run across on a infield error. 
  • The Panthers scored their 20th run later in the eighth inning on a bases-loaded walk.  
  • RHP Christian Galindo started for Tech and went three innings while giving up two hits and one earned run. He walked three and struck out two.  
  • LHP Aiden Pryzgoda picked up his second win out of the bullpen working two and one-third scoreless innings. He gave up no hits and walked two.  
  • RHP Tyler Vermillion threw one and two-thirds inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits. He struck out one batter. 
  • RHP Carter Cooke and LHP Andres Tapia each threw one inning with three strikeouts and one walk.  
  • LHP Mike Pasquarella took the loss for D'Youville, as he gave up five earned runs in one and one-third innings pitched. He walked seven batters.  
  • Tech had 19 hits with Garrett leading the way with four. Kimball and Sewell each had three. 
  • Wentzel and Eldridge led the Panthers with three RBIs. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • The Panthers move to 2-0 all-time against D'Youville. 
  • 20 runs are a season-high for the Panthers.  
  • Garrett tied a career-high with four hits and moves his hitting streak to 11 games.  
  • Tech is on a season-high seven-game win streak. 
  • The Panthers outscored the Saints 32-4 over two games.
