Embry-Riddle Takes Series Finale Over Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. - After winning the first two games of the weekend, Tech was looking for a series sweep over Embry-Riddle. The Eagles had other plans, as they did what they needed to do to leave Melbourne with one victory.  

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF GAME: 

  • The Eagles used a RBI single from Timo Aracena and a RBI sac fly by A.J. Marinello to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.  
  • The Panthers responded in the first inning as Josh Ford drove in Jason Blackstone with a RBI double to left field.   
  • Embry-Riddle scored its third run in the fourth inning on a RBI single to left-center field from Jeremy Kennedy-Davis  
  • Tech threatened with runners at the corners and no outs in the sixth inning. However, two strikeouts and a flyout ended the frame with no runs for the Panthers.  
  • With the Eagles bullpen now in the game, Jason Blackstone hit a RBI sac fly to left field that scored Andres Suarez in the seventh inning.  
  • Embry-Riddle got an insurance run in the eighth inning to push its lead to 4-2 thanks to a RBI single by Marinello. 
  • The Panthers got a runner on base in both the eighth and ninth innings, but could not get the timely hits to score any more runs.  
  • RHP Dylan Cleveland took the loss, giving up three earned runs on five hits in six and one-third innings pitched. The freshman struck out two, walked two, and hit one batter. 
  • LHP Aiden Pryzgoda threw two-thirds of an inning in relief and gave up one earned run on one hit.  
  • RHP Ridge Skarbek was on the bump for the final two innings and gave up just one hit and walked two.  
  • RHP Dillon Moran was the winning pitcher for the Eagles. He threw six innings and allowed one earned run on five hits.  
  • Tech had nine hits with Gavin McGowan, Blackstone, Ford, and Andres Suarez each having a two-hit day. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • The Panthers drop to 22-21 all-time against Embry-Riddle.  
  • Today marked the first two hits of Suarez's career in his second start of the season.  
  • For the second game in a row, the Tech defense did not commit an error.  
  • With the series win over the Eagles, the Panthers have won three of their first four SSC series.  
  • Tech is currently sitting in third place in the SSC standings. 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech returns to action Tuesday, March 28th for a nonconference battle with at Flagler. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from St. Augustine.
