ANCHORAGE, ALASKA. – The Florida Tech volleyball team ventured to the Last Frontier State of Alaska for the Seawolf Invitation hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage. The first day saw the Panthers fall in their first two matches of the season with losses to No. 7 St. Cloud State and Cal Poly Humboldt.
MATCH ONE
FINAL: Florida Tech 0, #7 St. Cloud State 3
Records: Florida Tech (0-1, 0-0 SSC), #7 St. Cloud State (2-0, 0-0 NSIC)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Set:
- St. Cloud State started the match off on a 5-0 run.
- The Panthers got on the board, bringing the match to within four still as they still trailed 8-4.
- A Kill from María Jesús Muñoz helped bring Tech to within three at 14-11.
- The Huskies pulled ahead by six at 21-16 before securing the first set 25-18.
- Munoz and Chiara Patelli would lead Tech in points following the first set with Munoz tallying five points and Patelli three.
Second Set:
- The Huskies started going up 5-2 on the Panthers before the Crimson and Gray brought the set back to within one at 5-4.
- Following a service ace by Jeanne Hassoun, Tech would trail by two at 11-9
- St. Cloud State would then record five unanswered points to lead 16-10.
- Following a kill by Patelli the Panthers still trailed 20-12.
- The Huskies would take five of the next six points to win the second set 25-13 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Third Set:
- With kills by Cordelia Kearns and Lilian Muszynski, the Panthers would take their first lead of the match at 2-1 to start the third set.
- Kearns would tie the set up as Lexi Lueger would give Tech another narrow with a kill to put the panthers ahead 5-4.
- Antia Vallecas Rodriguez would give Tech a 7-5 lead following a kill.
- A few points later, A kill by the Huskies would give them a 9-8 lead and the final lead change of the match.
- St. Cloud State later extended its lead 14-9 pulling ahead by five.
- As the Panthers trailed 17-12, back-to-back kills from Patelli, assisted by Kenzie Delacher and later, a service ace by Delacher would help tie the match up at 17 all.
- Back and forth exchanges saw the Huskies take a one-point lead only for the Tech to tie it up four times in a row to tie it up 21-21.
- Four unanswered points by St. Cloud State would give the Huskies the set 25-21 and take the match 3-0.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Panthers move 0-1 all time against the St. Cloud State Huskies
- Patelli (7), Muñoz (6) and Kearns (3) led the Tech in kills.
- Hassoun and Delacher each tied for team high eight assists.
- Kari Voelstad Bogen and Delacher both recorded 12 digs against the Huskies.
MATCH TWO
FINAL: Florida Tech 1, Cal Poly Humboldt 3
Records: Florida Tech (0-2, 0-0 SSC), Cal Poly Humboldt (2-1, 0-0 CCAA)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Set:
- Cal Poly Humboldt would jump out to an early 3-0 lead.
- The Panthers slowly edged their way back to tie the match up at 6-6 with an attack error by the Lumberjacks.
- Techs first lead of the match came when they recorded back-to-back points to jump ahead 9-8.
- Tied at 9-9, Cal Poly Humboldt would record four kills in a row followed by a service ace to lead 13-9.
- Trailing, Tech edged its way back and a kill from Vallecas Rodriguez allowed the Panthers to tie the set up 17-17.
- Four straight point put the Lumberjacks up 21-17.
- Kills from Kearns and Muñoz brought the set to 21-19 until four unanswered point from Cal Poly Humboldt gave the Lumberjacks a 25-19 set win and lead the match 1-0.
Second Set:
- Hassoun started out the set with a service ace before the Lumberjacks would pull ahead 4-2.
- A kill from Patelli gave Tech a 6-5 lead.
- The Crimson and Gray would go on record five unanswered points to make it 12-8.
- The run featured two service aces' from Patelli and a kill from Josianne Keenan.
- The Lumberjacks would tie the set back up at 13-13.
- With the panthers trailing 17-16 after a kill from Kearns, Cal Poly Humboldt scored three straight points to lead 20-16.
- Tech inched its way back to take the lead late in the set at 22-21.
- The Panthers run came with support from a kill by Keenan and ace from Muñoz.
- As the Panthers led 24-23 Cordelia Kearns recorded the kill to give Florida Tech its first set of the season winning 25-23 and tie the match up at 1-1.
Third Set
- The Lumberjacks stormed ahead early taking an 8-2 lead.
- Tech attempted to rally back coming to within two down 9-7
- Cal Poly Humboldt would rally scoring nine of the next 12 points to lead the Panthers 18-10.
- The Lumberjacks kept rallying outscoring Tech seven to two in the next nine points to claim the set 25-12 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Fourth Set
- A close start saw Tech and Humboldt battle it out to a close start with the Lumberjacks having a slight 5-4 advantage before jumping ahead 9-5.
- Five straight point from the Panthers featuring a kill from Danelli Mejia and service ace from Kearns tied the match at 9-9.
- Cal Poly Humboldt would later pull ahead by eight at 21-13.
- Scoring six of the next nine points Tech would trail at match point 24-19.
- The Panther's run was helped by two kills from Kearns and a service ace from Delacher.
- The Lumberjacks recorded a service ace to win the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Florida Tech is now 1-2 all-time against the Lumberjacks.
- The Panthers last matchup against Cal Poly Humboldt occurred 22 years ago to the date on September 1st, 2001, which saw Tech defeat the Lumberjacks 3-1.
- Freshman Cordelia Kearns led the Panthers with 12 points and 10 kills and two block assists.
- Delacher and Hassoun each recorded 12 set assists in the match.
- Patelli tallied two solo blocks and two block assists.
- Courtney Capar led Tech with 18 digs.

The Panthers will take part in their second day at the Seawolf Invitational on Saturday, September 2, as they will take on the University of Alaska Fairbanks at 1:00 PM (EST). Florida Tech will then face hosts No. 14 University of Alaska Anchorage in the final match of the invitation at 11:00 PM (EST)
