ANCHORAGE, ALASKA. – The Florida Tech volleyball program took to day two of the Seawolf Invitational at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, Alaska hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage. Day two saw the Panthers face off against Alaska Fairbanks and hosts No.14 Alaska Anchorage.
MATCH ONE
FINAL: Florida Tech 1, Alaska Fairbanks 3
Records: Florida Tech (0-3, 0-0 SSC) Alaska Fairbanks (2-6, 0-0 Great Northwest)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Set:
- Danelli Mejia recorded the Panthers first kill of the match assisted by Kelly Merz as Tech trailed 4-1.
- Fairbanks opened the set with a 9-3 run.
- Down by six, Tech rallied back to within three down12-9 thanks to two kills each from María Jesús Muñoz and Cordelia Kearns and a kill from Lexi Lueger.
- Jeanne Hassoun, Courtney Capar and Merz each recording at least one assist in the comeback attempt.
- Fairbanks pulled ahead 17-13 and didn't look back eventually taking the first set 25-19 and go ahead in the match 1-0.
Second Set:
- With the help of kills from Mejia, Muñoz, and Kearns with a service ace from Hassoun, the Panthers battled with the Nanooks to a 5-5 tie.
- As Tech trailed by one, Fairbanks found a four-point rally to go up 12-7.
- The Panthers deficit only grew, down nine trailing 22-13.
- The Nanooks later capped off the set winning a 25-14 and taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Third Set:
- Tech would fall behind 6-3 early in the set.
- The team would later rally back to take an 8-7 lead thanks to a kill from Lueger assisted by Capar.
- After back-and-forth action in the middle of the set, the Panthers would jump ahead 19-16.
- Fairbanks would answer back to tie the set at 21-21.
- Tied 22-22, Tech would record three straight points with a kill from Muñoz before Kearns closed out the set with a kill as the Crimson and gray would take the third set 25-22 and make it a 2-1 match.
- Delacher would assist on the final two kills of the match.
Fourth Set
- The Nanooks hopped out to an early 7-1 advantage over Tech in the fourth set.
- Tech would attempt to rally back bringing the set to within three points as Fairbanks would lead 10-7.
- Fairbanks would record six unanswered points, as Fairbanks would pull ahead 16-7.
- As the Nanooks looked to close out the match Tech would record its largest deficit of the match down by 10 at 23-13, before Alaska Fairbanks would take the fourth set 25-15 and win the match 3-1.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Panthers are now 0-1 All time against Alaska Fairbanks.
- Kearns and Muñoz would lead Tech with 13 kills each.
- Kearns's 14.5 points were a team high in the match.
- Hassoun recorded 20 assists, the most of any other Panther in the match.
- Tech recorded 44 kills to the Nanooks 49.
- The Crimson and Gray managed to out dig Alaska Fairbanks 57 to 52.
- Freshman Cordelia Kearns's 13 kills in the match are the most by a true freshman since Lillian Muszynski tallied 13 vs, Florida Southern on October 30, 2021.
- Courtney Capars 18 and 14 digs in her first two games this season best her 2022 season high of 12.
MATCH TWO
FINAL: Florida Tech 1, No.14 Alaska Anchorage 3

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Set:
- Tied at 4-4, Anchorage managed five of the next since points to lead the Panthers 10-5.
- After a 13-7 lead the Panthers would call a timeout, down by six.
- Tech would bring the match to within three at 14-11 with the help of two kills from Kearns.
- Three kill exchanges for each time would bring the score to 19-14 Anchorage.
- Back-to-block assists from Lexi Lueger and Chiara Patelli and then Patelli and Kearns would narrow the Seawolves lead to 23-19.
- A kill from Antia Vallecas Rodriguez assisted by Delacher would bring Tech to within four down 24-20 before the Seawolves would take the set 25-20 and go ahead in the match 1-0.
Second Set:
- The Panthers first lead of the match occurred leading 2-1, later going ahead 3-1 with a kill from Delacher.
- Alaska Anchorage would rally off five points and go ahead 6-3.
- Tech would go on to find themselves down by nine at 15-7.
- As the Panthers trailed 24-12, Tech rallied four straight points to bring the match back ti within single digits and trail by eight.
- Following a rally on the final point of the set, the Seawolves would win 25-16 and go ahead 2-0 in the match.
Third Set
- The third set of the match began with both Tech and Anchorage battling it out.
- Trailing by one at 8-6, the Crimson and Gray would record four straight points to lead 10-8.
- Maintain the lead Anchorage would find ways to tie the match at 18-18, before the Seawolves earned a 19-18 lead.
- With the panthers Training 21-18, attack errors by anchorage and a kill from Vallecas Rodriguez put tech back in the lead at 22-21.
- Tech would not trail the remainder of the set as Muñoz would record the final kill of the set to give the Crimson and Gray its first set of the match with a final score of 25-23.
- The Panthers would still trail the match down 2-1.
Fourth Set
- Anchorage pulled ahead early in the set leading 5-1 and 10-5 during times in the set.
- Two kills from Kearns, one from Patelli, a kill from Ashley Rants and an attack error by the Seawolves would tie the match up at 10-10.
- Hassoun assisted on three of the four previous kills, while Delacher assisted for one.
- A five-point rally would once again see Anchorage leap out 15-10 before a kill from Muñoz.
- Trailing by four at 19-15, Tech would record four unanswered points to tie the set at 19 all.
- The rally included kills from Lueger and Devyn Glassgold. Both kills assisted by Delacher.
- Alaska Anchorage would record the final five points of the set with the help from three service aces as the Seawolves would take the set 25-20 and win the match 3-.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Following the two team's first meeting, Tech falls to 0-1 all-time against the Seawolves.
- Muñoz would lead Tech with 16 points from 13 kills, one ace and four block assists while also recording a team high 18 digs.
- Muñoz would finish the match with a .462 hitting percentage with just one error on 26 attempts and a total 13 kills.
- Vallecas Rodriguez finished the match with a .333 hitting percentage with four kills on nine attempts with one error.

The Panthers return to Florida and take part in the Rollins Invitational where in the first day on Friday, September 8
th, the Panthers will face Chadron State at 9:00 AM before facing Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) at 1:00 PM. The Invitational will be held in Winter Park at the Harold & Ted Alfond Sports Center.
