Panthers Earn Second Straight Road Win Over No. 14 Wingate

WINGATE, N.C.- The Panthers knocked off No.14 Wingate to earn their second straight road win in a top-20 matchup on Saturday night.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Florida Tech had an opportunity to get on the board in the 25th minute on a shot by Jacopo Ghezzi, but Wingate's keeper, Aleksa Janic came up with the save.
  • The Bulldogs were able to find the back of the net in the 29th minute to go ahead 1-0.
  • Kevan Regnier's shot went off the inside of the post and into the net to tie the game 1-1- in the 34th minute.
  • With two minutes left in the half, Joeran Osland's corner kicked soared into the net to give Tech a 2-1 lead heading into the half.
  • Coming out of the break, the Panthers wasted no time attempting to score when Eythor Omarsson fired off a shot, but Janic came up with another big save.
  • In the 55th minute, Janic attempted another save, but Osvaldo Santana was able to sneak one past him.
  • The Bulldogs had an opportunity to score in the 64th minute after Tajay Grant found some open space in the box, but his shot missed.
  • Tech kept applying pressure and broke through again in the 68th minute after a pass by Fabio Amaral found Ettore Casadei to set up a header right into the net, giving the Panthers a commanding 4-1 lead.
  • Florida Tech outshot Wingate 12-8 with 10 on goal.
  • Janic recorded six saves for Wingate, while Iker Bastida recorded two.
  • The Bulldogs took the edge in corners, 5-4.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech is 4-3 in the all-time series record against Wingate.
  • This is the third straight season the two teams have faced each other. The Panthers have won the last four meetings.
  • Casadei and Santana both scored their second goals of the season.
