MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech volleyball team hosted the unbeaten and 17th-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights at the Clemente Center on Friday night, and came away with the victory in dramatic fashion, 3-2.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Set:
- Both teams traded points to start the match. An attack error on Lynn put Tech up 2-1.
- Lynn came back with a 6-1 run to go up 7-3.
- The Panthers responded with a 5-0 run capped off with a kill by Tessa Mati to retake the lead, 8-7.
- A quick three points for the Fighting Knights put them back on top, 10-8.
- After some more back and forth, three straight points for Tech, including back-to-back kills from Chiara Patelli and Cordelia Kearns, put the Panthers back on top, 13-12.
- A few points later, a 5-1 run for Lynn put them up 17-14. Lilian Muszynski stifled the run with a kill for Tech.
- With a two-point lead, 19-17, the Fighting Knights rattled off a 5-0 run to extend the lead out to 24-17.
- Tech answered with three points, but a kill from Lynn's Samantha Wolf secured the first set for the Fighting Knights, 25-20.
Second Set:
- Lynn began the second set with a quick 3-0 run. Kearns stifled the run with a kill from the back row to put the Panthers on the board.
- A 4-1 run for the Fighting Knights extended the lead out to 7-2.
- The teams traded points for the next few minutes, but the Panthers fought back with four straight points, including two kills from Patelli, to cut the lead down to 11-9.
- The back and forth was back until the Fighting Knights gained some momentum back with a 5-0 run to take an 18-12 lead.
- A block from Irene Kitson and Muszynski sparked a short 3-0 run to bring Tech back within three, 18-15.
- Lynn scored six straight points to bring up set point, 24-15. The Panthers tried to mount a comeback with three points, but the Fighting Knights sealed the set with a kill, 25-18.
Third Set:
- The Panthers came out firing at the start of the third set with five straight points, forcing Lynn to take an early timeout.
- A 5-2 run for the Fighting Knights cut Tech's lead down to 7-5.
- Both teams exchanged the next five points until Lynn broke the exchange with three points to knot the set at 10-10.
- Both teams traded points for the next several minutes until the 19-19 mark. Lynn scored back-to-back points to go up 21-19, but the Panthers came right with two kills from Patelli to tie the set back up at 21-21.
- Faced with match point, Mati came up big with a kill inside the 10-foot line to tie the set at 24-24.
- Muszynski and Mati combine for Kills on the next two points to take set three, 26-24.
Fourth Set:
- The Panthers started the fourth set on fire again. This time with a 6-0 run to force Lynn into an early timeout.
- Coming out of the timeout, Tech added on two more points, but a service error ended the run at 8-1.
- Lynn settled into the set and the teams began to trade points. Back-to-back kills from Muszynski and Mati put the Panthers up 12-3.
- A short 4-0 run from the Fighting Knights cut the lead down to 12-7 before a block from Kearns and Muszynski stifled Lynn's offense.
- Tech rattled off a 9-1 run to extend the lead to 21-8. The run was highlighted by three kills from Mati and two aces from Kari Voelstad Bogen.
- The Panthers would trade a few more points with Lynn, but Tech would cruise to a 25-13 set-four win, forcing the deciding set five.
Fifth Set:
- The teams began the final set of the match by trading points, a panther Kill from Kearns followed by an ace from Jeanne Hassoun put Tech up 4-3.
- After some more back and forth, a Patelli kill and a block from Patelli and Kitson put the Panthers up 8-6.
- Back-to-back kills from Antia Vallecas Rodriguez and Kearns extended the lead out to 10-7 and forced the Fighting Knights into taking a timeout.
- Lynn tied the match back up at 11-11 with a 4-1 run.
- Kitson and Kearns combined for back-to-back kills to make it 13-11 in favor of the Panthers and forced Lynn to take their final timeout.
- Out of the timeout, Jeanne Hassoun nailed back-to-back aces to secure the upset victory over Lynn.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Chiara Patelli led the Panthers with 17 kills at a blistering .630 hit percentage. She also added six blocks on the night.
- Cordelia Kearns totaled 15 kills and 12 digs.
- Kari Voelstad Bogen led the team with 24 digs.
- Jeanne Hassoun led the team with four service aces. She also chipped in 18 assists and nine digs.
- Lily Muszynski and Irene Kitson each totaled six blocks. Three of Kitson's blocks were solos.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech moves to 23-29 all-time against Lynn, including a 14-13 record at home against the Fighting Knights.
- With her 15th dig of the night, Kari Voelstad Bogen reached 1,000 digs for her career.
- This is the second top-25 win of the season for the Panthers.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will host Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 5 for another SSC match. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Clemente Center.
