ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's volleyball team earned its second sweep in two days with a 3-0 win over Eckerd on Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Florida Tech 3, Eckerd 0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-22)
Records: Florida Tech (19-7, 13-4 SSC), Eckerd (13-12, 6-11 SSC)

STATS OF THE MATCH:
Set One:
- The teams traded the first few points of the match. An early 5-1 run for Tech put them on top 7-3.
- Eckerd cut the lead down to 8-6 over the next few minutes, but a kill from Chiara Patelli followed by an ace from Kenzie Delacher extended the Panthers lead back out to 10-6.
- After a point from the Tritons, Tech rattled off a 5-0 run highlight by a kill from Irene Kitson and an ace from Courtney Capar to go up 15-7.
- A few points later, Eckerd battled back with a 7-1 run to cut the lead down to 18-16.
- A kill from Antia Vallecas Rodriguez stifled the Tritons run and sparked the Panthers, who finished on a 7-1 run of their own to win the set 15-17.
Set Two:
- The second set began like the first set with both teams trading points. A Cordelia Kearns kill put Tech up 5-3.
- After some more back and forth, the Tritons tied the set at 9-9 with back-to-back kills.
- Tied at 13-13, Eckerd caught fire and went on a 7-2 run to take a 20-15 lead.
- Following a timeout, a Triton service error and kill from Patelli started a 6-2 run for the Panthers to cut the lead down to 21-22.
- Two kills from Kearns and an error by Eckerd tied the set at 24-24.
- The teams traded kills to remain tied at 25-25 before a service error by the Tritons and a block from Tessa Mati and Lilian Muszynski sealed the second set victory for Tech, 27-25.
Set Three:
- Once again, the teams traded points to begin the set and found themselves tied at 4-4 before the Panthers used a 5-1run to go up 9-6.
- The Tritons bounced back and cut the lead down to 11-9.
- An ace from Capar and a block and a kill from Patelli put Tech up 14-9.
- A 6-1 run from the Tritons tied the set back up at 15-15.
- The Panthers stormed back with a 6-2 run highlight by two kills from Kearns, to retake the lead, 21-17.
- Eckerd tried to rally back and got within two points twice, 22-20 and 24-22, but Patelli put the set away with a kill from the middle for the final point of the match, 25-22.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Cordela Kearns led the Panthers with 15 kills. She was one dig shy of double-double with nine.
- Chiara Patelli recorded nine kills, four blocks (two solo), and five digs.
- Kenzie Delacher led the team with 17 assists and nine digs.
- All-time 27-36 vs. Saint Leo (since 1993)
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech moves to 26-37 all-time against Eckerd, including a 9-23 record on the road in St. Petersburg.
- This was the first road win over the Tritons since Oct. 14, 2000.
- Chiara Patellie swung at a .412 clip tonight. This was the 15th time this season she has finished a match with a hit percentage over .400.
- Jeanne Hassouns finished with three service aces becoming the first Panther to record 40 service aces in a season since Caitlyn Ballweber in 2010.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will return to the confines of the Clemente Center on Tuesday, Nov. 19 against Embry-Riddle. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Melbourne.
