Men's Soccer Secures Second Seed With A Draw to Barry on Senior Day

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech men's soccer ties Barry in a 0-0 match, sealing the Panthers as the second seed heading into the SSC Tournament.

STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Both offenses produce few goal-scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes of the match. Barry outshot the Panthers 4-2 in the first half. Iker Bastida recorded two saves.
  • There was more action in the second half, as both teams combined for 13 shots, with Florida Tech leading the category with eight, including six on-goal, in the final 45 minutes.
  • It started almost as soon as the final half began. Jacopo De Collibus ripped one at the net only to be saved by the Buccaneers keeper. Mattea Ghirardelli would attempt one a few minutes later.
  • In the final 15 minutes, Tech went all out to take an advantage over Barry. The Panthers had four shot-on-goal during that period; Barry would attempt once.

NOTABLE PANTHERS
  • Senior Iker Bastida made four saves while not allowing a goal in 90 minutes for his ninth career clean sheet.
  • Other seniors Tomas Casas and Mikkel Kvinnesland also contributed to a strong defensive effort, playing every minute of the game. The entire defense played 90 minutes, with Tommy Chamberlain and Alvaro Ivorra Ronda also chipping in.
  • Ten different Panthers took a shot this evening, and six had a shot on goal.
 
UP NEXT: As the second seed in the SSC, the Panthers play the seventh-seeded Barry again on Monday, November 11, at home. The match is set for a 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
