Five Panthers Score in Double-Digits as Tech Downs Trinity Baptist

MELBOURNE, FLA. – The Panthers dominantly defeated the Eagles as they set season highs in many defensive categories and reached the 100-point mark for the second time this season.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

First Half:
  • Donovan Brown started Tech's scoring with a tough lay-in at the rim, slicing through the Eagles' defense.
  • The Panthers would follow up with a lefty layup from Logan Allen, 4-0.
  • Tech would jump out to an early lead as it would grow up to 13 as Max Polk, Donovan Murphy, and Marko Malekinusic would all register in the box score with baskets, 19-6.
  • Over three minutes, the Panthers would continue to pour it on and would have a definitive lead before the five-minute mark in the first half, 34-11.
  • Can Kaan Turgut and Ben Csernak asserted themselves as Tech coasted into the half up big, 51-28.
  • Polk would lead the Panthers in the first half with 12 points, followed by Turgut with 11 points, and Murphy, a perfect 5-5 from the field, adding on 10 points of his own.
 
Second Half:
  • The Panthers would keep their foot on the gas and extend their lead even more simply just having their way offensively in every way.
  • Brown would finish strong with 18 of his 23 points coming in the second half leading the Panthers to a solid victory, 100-64.
  • At one point, the gap in the score would reach 40 points as the Panthers shot over 50% from the field and just above 40% from the three-point line.
  • Tech achieved a season-high in team stats with rebounds at 51, assists at 16, and blocks at seven.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Donovan Murphy reached a career-high in points, finishing with 12
  • Donovan Brown led all scorers in this one, finishing with 23 points
  • Logan Allen set a career-high in rebounds with 11
  • Ben Csernak saw his first extended minutes of the season and registered a career-high nine points, seven rebounds, and a game/career-high three blocks

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers scored 100 for the second time this season
  • All-time vs. Trinity Baptist: 2-0 
  • This is the first meeting between teams since January 17, 2012.
 
UP NEXT:
