MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech baseball team opened the season at home under the lights against Spring Hill on Friday night but fell to the Badgers by a score of 13-4.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- After a three-up, three-down inning for both teams in the first, Spring Hill got on the board with a three-run home run by Parker Serio in the second.
- The Badgers tacked on another run in the third inning after a balk was called.
- Spring Hill's bats continued to roll in the fourth. The Badgers plated three more runs from five hits in the inning.
- A Noah Burke single in the sixth inning plated Jack Matousek to give Tech its first run of the game.
- In the seventh inning, Jason Blackstone scored on a passed ball, and a few batters later a rope off Tate Hansen's bat into the left centerfield gap scored Camden Colman to make it an 8-3 ballgame.
- Spring Hill added another run in the top of the eighth and a four-run top of the ninth gave the Badgers a 13-3 lead.
- The Panthers were not done as Colman doubled with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Hansen followed up with a single into left field to bring in Colman and make it 13-4.
- Marshall Burke followed up with a single in the next at-bat, but Matousek would fly out to center field to end the game.

NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Noah Burke, Marshall Burke and Tate Hansen each tallied two hits in the contest. N. Burke notched two singles and one RBI while Hansen tallied a double and two RBIs on the night.
- Camden Colman went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, two runs scored, and one walk.

- Florida Tech moves to 8-5 all-time against Spring Hill, including a 4-3 record in Melbourne.

UP NEXT: Florida Tech will conclude the three-game series against Spring Hill tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 3 with a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for Noon at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field in Melbourne, Fla.
