VIERA, Fla. – The Florida Tech baseball team played a doubleheader against Purdue Northwest in the USSSA Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla. on Sunday afternoon, but dropped both contests to the Pride.

STATS OF GAME 1:
- After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers got on the board first in the bottom of the second. An RBI single from Gabe Garrett sent Cole Patrick across the plate to take a 1-0 lead.
- PNW battled back in the top of the third inning. With runners on second and third, Cole Olson sent an RBI double down the right-field line to take a 2-1 lead. A single in the next at-bat brought Olson around to extend the lead to 3-1.
- Ridge Skarbek took to the mound in relief for the Panthers in the top of the fourth and retired the Pride in order.
- In the top of the fifth inning, a two-out RBI single extended PNW's lead to 4-1.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, Tech cut the lead down to 4-2 with an RBI fielder's choice from Austin Sewell.
- A two-out two-RBI single by Dan Puplava put the Pride up 6-2 in the top of the seventh.
- In the bottom half of the frame, after a one-out single by Jack Matousek, Marshall Burke launched a one-out two-run home run over the left field fence to cut the lead down to 6-4.
- PNW relief pitcher, Andrew Petsche, settled in and retired the next two Panthers with flyouts to end the game.

STATS OF GAME 2:
- Panthers' starting pitcher, Dylan Dieguez worked a quick one-two-three inning in the top of the first.
- Tech threatened with runners on first and second and one out in the bottom half of the frame, but PNW starter, Blake Newell, induced a double play to get out of the inning.
- The Pride struck first in the top of the second on an RBI double by Puplava to go up 1-0. A single in the next at-bat plated Puplava to make it a 2-0 game.
- Dieguez would strike out the next two PNW batters to escape the jam.
- After a scoreless third inning, the Pride tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth to go up 5-0.
- Pitching in relief for the Panthers, Brady Guthrie struck out the side in the top of the fifth inning.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Tech threatened with runners on the corners and two outs and Carlos Guzman coming up to bat in a pinch-hit scenario. Guzman worked a full count and sent a deep fly ball to center field, but the PNW centerfielder was able to safely make the play and keep the Panthers off the scoreboard.
- Payton McIntosh worked a quick one-two-three top of the seventh inning to bring Tech back up looking to rally in the bottom of the final frame of the doubleheader, but the Panthers would go down in order to give the game its final score of 5-0.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- In the first-ever meeting in program history, Florida Tech moves to 0-2 all-time against PNW.
- Marshall Burke clubbed the first home run of his collegiate career in game one.
- Brett Kelly has recorded a hit in nine straight games played.
- Gabe Garrett is on a six-game hitting streak.

UP NEXT: Florida Tech will return to the confines of Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field on Tuesday, March 12 when the Panthers host Sioux Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Melbourne, Fla.
