MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech baseball team dropped the first game of its three-game set, 11-6, to Eckerd on Friday night at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Eckerd jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-RBI single from Reid Lisle and a bases-loaded walk issued to Cole Shumaker.
- In the top of second, the Tritons tacked on two more runs with a two-RBI base knock from Alex Brazer.
- Tech cut the lead down to 5-1 with a sacrifice fly from Camden Colman that plated Jack Matousek.
- Eckerd threatened again the in top of the third inning with runners on second and third and one out. Pitching in relief, Danny Vassallo struck out the next batter and induced a ground out to get out of the jam.
- Brazer smoked a two-run home run over the center field fence to push Eckerd's lead out to 7-1 in the top of the fourth.
- Carlos Guzman reached safely after a fielding error by the Triton's third basemen, and would come around to score two batters later on an RBI single from Tate Hansen. Two batters later, another sacrifice fly from Colman cut Eckerd's lead down to 7-3.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Matousek belted a two-out double into the right center gap to bring home Jason Blackstone and make it a 7-4 game.
- Still in the fifth, Hansen brought home another run on an infield single to make it a two-run game.
- The Tritons got both runs back in the top of the sixth on a two-run double by Kyle Ericson to make it a 9-5 game.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Marshall Burke and Noah Burke led off with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with no outs. Guzman sent a liner into right field for a sacrifice that plated M. Burke to bring the lead down to 9-6.
- Matousek followed up with a single through the infield to put runners on the corners once again. Brett Kelly would get hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs, but Eckerd would get Colman to fly out to center field to end the inning.
- The Tritons added another run in the top of the eighth with back-to-back two-out base hits to push the lead out to 10-6.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Panthers loaded found themselves with the bases loaded and two outs, but the Triton's reliever would induce a ground out to conclude the inning and keep the game at 10-6.
- The Tritons tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth on an infield single.
- The Panthers were able to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Eckerd's reliever would retire the final Panther of the inning to give the game its final score of 11-6.

- Florida Tech moves to 70-55 all-time against Eckerd, including a 34-12 record at home in Melbourne.
- Jason Blackstone has reached base safely in 27 straight games played.
- Carlos Guzman has reached base safely in 23 out of 24 games started this season.
