Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 11 Limestone

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Despite creating many opportunities, the Florida Tech men's soccer team gives up two goals in a 2-0 defeat to No. 11 Limestone at home.

STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Florida Tech's offense out shot Limestone 19-7 and set up 12 corner kicks compared to the Saints two.
  • Limestone took an early chance at the opening score, darting one into the top left part of the net. However, the Panthers' keeper, Iker Bastida, made the save.
  • Following the Saints' attempt, the Panthers fired a barrage of shots. Tech took four shots and two corner kicks in the first 20 minutes but did not yield results.
  • Both offenses slowed down the final 20 minutes of the first half, with Limestone putting up two more shots. The game was tied 0-0 heading into halftime.
  • The Panthers began the second half like the first, taking five shots and three corner kicks before the 55th minute.
  • In the 61st minute, the Saints pulled ahead as Mark Radoki dashed up the left boundary and cut across, creating an open look. He took full advantage of this by hitting the left side of the net.
  • Tech went into full attack mode, giving Limestone's defense a lot to handle. The heavy attack forced a penalty kick; however, Limestone's keeper Nikolaj Bertelsen swatted the Eytor Omarsson kick away, keeping the score 1-0.
  • The Crimson and Gray controlled possession and held the ball in Saints territory for most of the game. They shot nine more times and took six more corner kicks.
  • In the waning seconds, the Saints' Radoki earned a brace with a slow roller into an empty net.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Panthers still lead the all-time series 2-1-1
  • Gene Lewis and Filippo Fazzi shot three times. Osvaldo Santana had two shots on goal.
  • Iker Bastida played the full 90 minutes.
  • Riccardo Paqui grabbed his first start and played 65 minutes, tallying one on-goal shot.
 
UP NEXT: The Panthers are once again on the road, traveling to Rollins on Wednesday, September 25, to begin their conference slate.
