GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Panther men's indoor track team traveled back to Gainesville on Friday to compete in the Radd Sports College Invitational. The team placed in the top-10 three times, two times as individuals and a relay, and in the top-15 four times.
Tech began the meet with four Panthers,
Alvaro Cameo,
Thomas Carpenter,
Yash Malik, and
Lachlan McCure, running the 3000-meter run. McCure placed the highest, crossing the finish line in 23
rd place at 8:48.71. Carpenter followed close behind, clocking in at 8:53.74 and in 26
th place.
In his first 400-meter of the season,
Dominic Longobardi broke the 1-minute barrier at 52.76, earning 30
th place.
Ryan Zerneke also ran under a minute at 59.85.
The highlight of the day came in the 300-meter dash, as
Ese Oguma broke his pace from the previous week with a 35.35 and finished in 7
th place—the Panthers' first top-10 placement of the day. Three other Panthers competed in the event;
Bradley Erskine Jr. and
Diego Estebanes placed 13
th and 14
th, respectively.
Filippo Bessi continued his hot start to the season. Competing in the 600-meter run for the first time, Bessi took 10
th place with a time of 1:22.78.
Jason Hargesheimer also had another stellar outing, hitting a time of 1:23.88 and getting 14
th place.
The distance king,
Ben Peck, finished in 14
th place in his lone race of the 1-mile run. His time of 4:18.28 was the fifth-best time by a Division II athlete.
For the final event on Friday. Tech's B Team earned fourth place in the 4000 DMR. The combination of Estabanes, Longobardi, Hargesheimer, McCure, and Erskine Jr. finished at 10:38.63 over Embry-Riddle's B-Team.

The Panthers are back in Gainesville for their third meet of the season. The RADD Legends Invitational will be a two-day event from Saturday, February 1, to Sunday, February 2.
