Freshman Show Out at ACSEC Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three Panther freshmen broke their personal-best times in the 300-meter dash, besting their times from last week, Friday night at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center Invitational, led by Gavin MacCoy's 10th-place finish.

Florida Tech competed in five events at the meet, focusing primarily on sprints. In the 400-meter dash, Mikey Roberts paced the Panthers with a 14th-place finish, clocking a 50.15. Three other Panthers also recorded personal bests in the event, as Diego Estebanes finished 36th with a time of 52.03, Bradley Erskine Jr. placed 47th at 52.78, and Morgan Lee posted a career-best 59.46.

Four freshmen took on the 300-meter dash, with three setting new career marks and the fourth making his event debut. MacCoy and Austin Clate battled stride-for-stride in the fourth heat, finishing just hundredths apart with times of 36.81 and 36.83, respectively. MacCoy edged Clate for 10th place, while Clate followed closely in 11th. Alex Moynihan also delivered a personal best, running 38.93 to place 20th, while Shawn Immanuel crossed the line in 37.83 for 19th.

The freshmen continued their strong showing in the 200-meter dash, as all four surpassed their career-best marks from the previous week. Jaden Garris led the group with a time of 22.98 for 35th place, followed by Clate at 23.28 (41st), MacCoy at 23.32 (43rd), and Moynihan at 24.61 (66th). Veterans Erskine and Lee added their second personal bests of the night, with Erskine earning the Panthers' top finish in the event at 23rd.

Tech closed the meet in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay, where Jason Hargesheimer, Fillipo Bessi, Brycen Haner, and Roberts combined for a time of 10:49.22 to secure a fifth-place finish.

In the field events, Santiago Florez-Tascon Gamero recorded throws of 10.75 meters in the weight throw and 11.23 meters in the shot put.
