Panthers Scoreless in Road Loss to Flagler

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech's offense was held in check on Tuesday night as the Panthers fell 4-0 to Flagler. Despite strong relief pitching, Tech couldn't break through at the plate, marking the first time this season they failed to score a run.

STATS OF THE GAME:
Final: Florida Tech 0, Flagler 4
Records: Florida Tech (17-15, 7-8 SSC) | Flagler (22-8, 7-5 PBC)
Location: St. Augustine, Fla | Drysdale Field

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • The Panthers and Saints stood at a standstill entering the third inning when the Saints struck first.
  • A single to right center got the scoring started as the runners on second and third crossed the home plate putting the Saints up 2-0.
  • Flagler added in another run with the next at-bat as in the process of a strikeout, the runner on first stole second opening the opportunity for the runner on third to come home, 3-0.
  • A single up the middle brought home one more run for the Saints bringing their lead up to 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  • The closest opportunity for Tech to get on the board came in the top of the eighth inning with one out and runners on first and second when a ground out into a double play would erase the scoring opportunity.
  • The Panthers for the first time this season would be unsuccessful in scoring a run.
  • Ryan Spitzer suffered his first loss of the season after lasting four innings, giving up two hits and three runs while walking three and striking out two.
