Panthers Close Out Home Slate with 4-2 Win Over PBA

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Tech used early offense and solid bullpen work to hold off Palm Beach Atlantic, earning a 4-2 non-conference win. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, backed by standout performances from Josh Beck on the mound and Braden Moon at the plate.

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Jaden Hill started the scoring in this one for the Panthers after hitting a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing home Gabe Garrett, Tech up 1-0.
  • In the next at-bat, Braden Moon doubled, securing two more runs for Tech, adding to the early lead, 3-0.
  • The Sailfish got on the board in the top of the fifth inning behind a triple from Ben Green, bringing home one run, Tech up two runs now, 3-1.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, PBA added on another run from a double by Trey Miranda, cutting the Panthers to just one, 3-2.
  • Pedro Figueroa helped build the lead back up to two runs for Tech after hitting a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring home Garrett, 4-2.
  • The Panthers finished the game with the most exciting play of the night as a soft shot to Conner Wiggins led to a fancy double play ending the game and securing the non-conference win for the Panthers, 4-2
  • Josh Beck started for the Panthers and received the win, lasting four innings of scoreless ball, giving up three hits, zero runs, while walking one and striking out five. Sean Means, Brayden DiCerb, and Ridge Skarbek saw time on the mound in relief.
